Highly-Skilled Volunteers
Design/Visual Art

Teach English
Help new Iowans succeed by helping them master the English language. Class times vary and volunteer opportunities may be customized based on previous experience in ELL programming

We need skilled photographers to capture every special moment during our events and international visitor meetings. Your photos will be used in communication pieces, social media, and more
Video
Help make our Passport to Prosperity gala a triumph with your video production skills
Communications
Publicize the Iowa International Center’s mission throughout Iowa through social media, media connections, collateral messaging, and more
Grant-writing
Prepare proposals and grant applications to open new doors for the Iowa International Center through funding. Keep your eyes peeled for new grant opportunities as well
Event planning
Take charge and help us iron out the special event logistics, promotion, setup and support with the organization’s various events
Data Management
Transfer the information from our current database to Salesforce. Help train our designated staff members or interns on new objects, reports and views
Professional Hosts to International Visitors
Take networking to a whole new level by sharing your professional knowledge with international visitors who work in a similar field
Other Volunteer Opportunities
Dinner Host
Do you enjoy meeting people from other countries? Become a citizen diplomat by spending a casual evening of conversation and food with international visitors
Homestay Host
Put that extra bedroom to use. Homestay hosting is an excellent opportunity to spend time with and learn from international visitors in your own home
Drivers
Take advantage of the opportunity to sit in on professional meetings with international visitors as a volunteer driver. You’re guaranteed to learn something new! Volunteer drivers must have a valid driver’s license and are subject to background checks
Explore Des Moines Volunteer
If visitors have an extra day in Des Moines, we need volunteers to show them everything the city has to offer! This will include a meal at a restaurant of the visitors’ and volunteer’s choosing (note that volunteers will need to pay for their meal). Volunteers can then take them to see the sights around the city. These excursions are usually two to three hours and volunteers must provide transportation.
